About Our Department
  1. Department History

The department was founded on August 1, 2003, with the intent of producing talented trainers in the sports and health fields and professionals for sports injury prevention; of raising the quality of life and health for society; and of protecting the bodily safety of national athletes and avid sports enthusiasts. In 2007 the Ministry of Education approved the addition of a master’s program to our department and a name change to the Department and Graduate Institute of Physical Education and Health, which was intended to train highly professional workers and researchers in physical education and health. On August 1, 2014, the department name would be changed to the Department of Exercise and Health Sciences. In response to various movements in society—drops in the birth rate, employment demand, and life-long study habits—the department takes into consideration the development of the employment market into which our graduates will be sent, and in that light trains highly professional workers and researchers in physical education and health. The dedication and effort of our department heads have led to the success that we enjoy today.
